Still Images
Power Director 7 lets you edit images in the library or on the timeline with the included PhotoNow image editor.

You can perform basic image manipulations such as red-eye reduction, cropping, rotating, color and brightness adjustments, and other effects.

Once your images are corrected you can choose which to include in a slideshow, select your background music, and choose a template to create a slide show.

In addition, if you prefer to create your slideshows yourself the Magic Motion Designer provides multiple motion presets letting you add pan-and-zoom effects to your still images with unlimited key frame capabilities.

Video Output Formats

CyberLink has also extended Power Director 7's disc-burning capabilities with support for new formats, including BDMV and BDAV Blu-ray discs.

Although they have also included new templates and a template designer, the real value here is in the online forum they have also created called DirectorZone. (More on that later.)
As I said in the introduction Power Director 7 handles all of the current output formats for DVD, Blu-Ray and the many and varied MPEG4 variants for use on YouTube etc.
Power Director even has a subtitle editor thrown into the mix which is a great option to have when you need to use a lot of text on the screen. Most of the other consumer level video editing software programs do not have this feature.
Unique features
Two new features released by Cyberlink add some very compelling arguments to the case regarding Power Director 7.
First, users can now upload and share design elements such as titles, DVD menus, PiP overlay objects, and other content to a new Web site called the DirectorZone.

Once you have signed up you can upload your creations from within Power Director 7 to the DirectorZone site.

This has, in a very short amount of time, formed into a a community that is constantly adding content that you can then use in your own projects.

You simply open a browser window to look for new content from within Power Director and download any desired content which is automatically installed into the correct library folder for your use.
I don't know of any other software offering this feature but the bottom line is you dramatically increase the available content for your productions.

There are now, quite literally, hundreds of title templates, DVD menus, frames, PiP objects and other static objects with that number increasing on a daily basis all provided by other users such as yourself.
The second unique feature is that you can import pictures from Flickr and audio from Freesound for use in non-commercial projects. It's a great way to find the right shot for your DVD menu or new background music all from within the program.
Conclusion
Cyberlink Power Director 7 marks a huge leap forward for Cyberlink to be taken seriously in the consumer level video editing software market.

This new version not only has bridged the gap between Power Director 7 and the other mainstream video editing software but in some areas has set the bar a little higher for them. Very Highly recommended.
